R Kelly Acquitted Of All 14 Child Porn Charges

A jury in America has acquitted US R&B star R Kelly of all 14 charges of child pornography against him.

The performer was found not guilty of filming himself having sex with an underage girl who prosecutors claimed was a young as 13.

Kelly, who denied all the charges, faced upwards of fifteen years in prison if found guilty.

He was arrested in 2002 after the video, apparently shot in 1998, was handed to a journalist at the Chicago Sun-Times newspaper.

The jury deliberated for six hours over the course of two days before the verdict was read out in court in Chicago yesterday (June 13th).

The trial was subject to a number of conflicting testimonies, with some relatives of the alleged victim identifying her as the girl in the tape and others saying she was not a family member.

Much of Kelly’s defence was based on the fact that the man in the video lacked a distinguishable mole on his back, which R Kelly has.

Naomi Campbell says sorry to police, but not to British Airways

LONDON - Model Naomi Campbell says she is sorry she assaulted two police officers during a dispute about lost luggage aboard a British Airways plane. But she has refused to apologize to the airline, accusing it of racism.

British Airways strongly denied the charge.

Campbell, 38, was sentenced Friday to 200 hours community service and fined $4,600 after she pleaded guilty to kicking, spitting and swearing at the officers aboard a plane at Heathrow Airport in April.

In an interview with Sky News broadcast Saturday, Campbell said she regretted her behaviour and said "I apologize profusely" to police.

"As for British Airways, I don't apologize," she said.

Campbell accused British Airways staff of having racist attitudes.

"I was called a racial name on that flight," Campbell said, adding that her violent behaviour "was part of my reaction." She did not say who had called her the name, but said it was not a passenger.

In a statement, British Airways said it "does not accept any allegations of racism."

"We are proud of our diversity. We fly to 90 different countries around the world and employ a multinationality workforce," the airline said. "We have strict policies concerning dignity at work and have long-standing training programs on diversity and inclusion."

Campbell has a history of assaulting assistants and employees.

Last year, she was sentenced to a week of community service in New York City after admitting "reckless assault" for throwing a mobile phone at her housekeeper.

In 2000, she pleaded guilty in Toronto to an assault charge for beating an assistant while making a film in Canada.

Plastic toy 'My Little Pony' gets star treatment for charity

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - LeAnn Rimes is putting her own stamp on My Little Pony.

The singer is among celebrities and artists who've agreed to design some new versions of My Little Pony, the plastic toy that has captivated girls since the 1980s.

Pawtucket-based Hasbro Inc. will auction the special ponies for the Give Kids The World charity as part of a celebration of the toy's 25th anniversary.

The pastel-coloured ponies - with names like Rainbow Dash and Daybreak - usually sport decorations on their hind quarters, often of hearts, balloons or stars. The celebrities and artists were given blank, 45-centimetre versions of the usually 10-cintimetre-tall ponies to decorate, Hasbro spokesman Dan Benkwitt said.

Also designing a pony is 1980s teen idol Deborah Gibson, said Susan Storey, a spokeswoman for the charity.

Hasbro initially announced that the stars of ABC's "Boston Legal," including William Shatner and James Spader, would decorate ponies. But Stacey Luchs, a spokeswoman for the show, said Thursday that Shatner and Spader were unaware of the venture and would not participate.

Artists designing ponies include illustrator Catalina Estrada from Spain, New York graffiti artist-turned-designer Claw Money and Japanese manga artist Junko Mizuno.

A pony designed by Estrada was expected to be unveiled at a collectors' fair this weekend in Providence, Benkwitt said. The others will be unveiled during a gallery event in Manhattan in September, when they also will be auctioned.
